How to Make Time for God

It's so easy to get caught up in life and forget about what's truly important. Making a plan and sticking to it can help in so many areas on your life. I am a very scheduled person and plan my day down to the minute. Making time for reading the Bible and spending time with God has changed my life dramatically. With these few tips you can make a difference too.

1. Start Your Morning with Devotion.
I have a great devotional called "Jesus Calling," by Sarah Young. I'm NOT a morning person by any means, but opening this book and reading a short motivating passage makes such a huge difference. After awhile it just becomes a habit. A great habit!

2. Listen to Christian Music.
It's so easy to turn on the radio and listen to music about sex and drugs. Sometimes we don't even hear the lyrics we just sing along. I for one am guilty of this :( but listening to that music is corrupting our minds. We need to listen to music that brings us closer to God. I love Hillsong radio on Pandora. Church isn't the only place we should worship God.

3. Study the Bible.
God gave us a wonderful book that shows us how to live our lives. It's a tool that we should use daily. I used to get so bored reading the Bible because I didn't understand it. Spending time everyday breaking down verses and taking notes (and highlighting and pictures are fun too!!) helps tremendously. Now I love it, because I learn so much every time I open it.

4. Join a Bible Study or Small Group.
There are so many options for ways to study the Bible. It can be pretty difficult doing it on your own. I chose to join a Bible study called BSF, Bible Study Fellowship. It has been amazing meeting new people and being in an environment with people who want to learn about Jesus. We get packets every week to take home and work on. Many churches have Bible studies and small groups on certain books or topics. So check out what is going on in your area and surround yourself with God loving people :)

5. Talk to God.
Prayer is such an important part of my day. Not only is it important to pray before meals and before bed, but God wants to hear from us all day. Thank Him for your blessings, because we are all SO BLESSED. Ask Him for wisdom and strength to make the best choices. When I feel alone and overwhelmed with every day struggles, I ask God to be with me and comfort me. Praying is the best way to build a stronger relationship with God.
